Why Jesus?

Do you have questions about who Jesus is?

Do you know that Jesus said that he came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10) and to testify to the truth (John 18:37)? That means that you may be on this site now because God is pursuing you!

Do you believe that God loves you?

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” John 3:16-17

Do you know why Jesus died on the cross?

“But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

The Bible tells us that He died to take away the guilt of our sin*. The payment of sin, which is death (a debt that WE ALL owe) was paid for by Jesus. Have you sinned before? *Sin = to miss the mark, to blow it, to be imperfect, or to do wrong in God’s eyes.

The Bible says that we all sin (most of us can admit that much!). But the Bible also says that sin causes separation from God. He is infinitely pure. We are not. That’s what makes us lost apart from Him. Now and for eternity.

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23

Being separated from God may be felt in many ways: the need for truth, search for meaning, striving to prove ourselves good, emptiness, captivity to sin, guilt-ridden darkness, fear of death – the list could go on, but the important part is that the Bible says life apart from Jesus results in death and eternal separation from God. This is hell.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23

Do you know how to fix it?

The truth is, none of us can save ourselves BUT Jesus offers His hand of salvation to be received by faith. No strings attached!

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” Ephesians 2:8-9

Is God knocking on your heart? Is the love of God leading to your repentance through the cross of Jesus?

You can put your faith in Him right now!

“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” Romans 10:9

Talk to God (He’s listening!) and say something like this…

“Lord, I understand that I need you. I realize that I am a sinner – separated and lost apart from you. I want to ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I turn to you today to put my faith in you. I want to make you Lord of my life and follow you. I ask you to be my Saviour and to change my heart.”

So Now What?

New life simply means being reborn spiritually. There’s an exchange that happens when we put our faith in Jesus. We give up our old life – which died with Jesus! – and we say yes to what God wants for us – relationship with Him!

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” Galatians 2:20

That means the next steps are important. You can learn more about how to walk with Jesus by reading the Bible, prayer (talking to God), and finding a group of people – a church – that teaches the Bible and will encourage you in your relationship with Jesus.
